RESPONSIBILITIES
The office of Town Historian is designed to have someone who will document and preserve the history of a community. The Historian is charged with promoting the preservation of historically significant sites and records along with collecting and in some cased correcting the local history.
While a municipal historian does not do in depth historical and genealogical research for individuals they can be a valuable asset for directing researchers to available resources. Historians also educate the public through oral presentations and writings.
