Town clerk + tax collector
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the keeper of town records, the Town Clerk attends all meetings of the Town Board and records all activities and decisions made, serves as Records Management Officer, has custody of all town records and responds to Freedom of Information requests.
The Town Clerk issues dog licenses, conservation licenses, marriage licenses, disabled parking permits,
and provides general information to the public.
The Town Clerk is also the Registrar of Vital Statistics for the town and provides copies of birth, death and marriage certificates and conducts genealogy searches. The town’s records start mainly in 1882.
Additionally, the Town Clerk is the tax collector.

Responsibilities of a tax collector includes collection of over–the-counter tax payments, handling receipts of mailed payments, recording all payments of tax bills on tax rolls, assisting taxpayers with various problems and handling phone messages.
